I was asked at a retail event last week, “What’s the biggest item you’ve built?”
Without a second’s hesitation, I replied: the JumpPRO Giant.
When you’ve overseen more than 1,900 trampoline builds and personally assembled 337 yourself, it’s a little bit crazy that one model can still stand out.
But this one does.
The JumpPRO 23ft x 10ft trampoline is, quite simply, enormous. At 23ft long, 10ft wide and just short of three metres high, it’s bigger in every dimension than some London apartments I’ve worked in.
While unboxing all the parts can be time consuming, it’s also one of the best parts of the build. Laying everything out across the garden gives you the first real sense of the scale. Poles, springs, netting, pads and fixings everywhere.
It’s a sight in itself.
A JumpPRO trampoline assembly of this size also replaces a trip to the gym quite comfortably. Not just because of the lifting involved, but because of the amount of walking around it. When you’re building a 23ft rectangular trampoline, even going from one end to the other becomes a decent number of steps by the time you’ve done it fifty times.
We’ve now built no fewer than 25 of these JumpPRO Xtra Giant trampolines for customers, including budding trampoline gymnasts and larger families where, by all accounts, the novelty has never really worn off.
And I can understand why.
My favourite part of building them is always the same.
You get to the end, fit the final pieces, stand back and look at this enormous thing that, just a few hours earlier, was nothing more than poles and springs spread across the lawn.
And there’s always that little moment of:
I did that.
Even after hundreds of trampoline builds, that feeling never really gets old.
Then, more often than not, the back door opens.
Little ones come running across the lawn.
Shoes off.
Straight onto the trampoline.
And within seconds, the thing you’ve spent hours carefully assembling is doing exactly what it was meant to do.
Which is probably why, after all the trampolines we’ve built, the JumpPRO 23ft x 10ft trampoline is still the one I remember when somebody asks me what the biggest build has been.
