How One House Move Became Our Home Setup Service

The very first Home Flatpack booking wasn’t really about flatpack furniture at all. It was about helping a pregnant couple move into their new home and getting the things around them sorted.

Anyone who has moved house knows the reality: boxes everywhere, furniture in pieces, removals happening around you, deliveries arriving at different times and the slightly optimistic belief that you’ll have everything sorted by Sunday evening.

Add work, childcare, pets or a newborn baby into the equation and moving day can very quickly become moving week – or moving month.

In many ways, we’ve now gone full circle. Today, our Home Setup Service is available nationally across the UK, helping customers settle into a new home without having to spend their first few days surrounded by unopened boxes, half-built furniture and instruction manuals.

We can help with flatpack furniture assembly, wardrobes, beds, tables, shelving, curtain poles, mirrors and artwork, as well as dismantling and rebuilding furniture as part of a house move. For families with young children, new parents, people relocating for work or anyone simply trying to juggle removals, deliveries and everyday life, having one less list of jobs to deal with can make a huge difference.

The idea is simple: rather than booking different tradespeople for lots of small jobs, customers can plan a Home Setup visit around what they actually need doing. That might mean assembling the bedroom furniture before the first night, getting the nursery ready before a baby arrives, rebuilding furniture after the removals team has left, or simply making sure the new house starts to feel like home a little sooner. On one recent job, for example, we assembled a bed from Dreams Beds – the Wilson Ottoman – helping the customer get their bedroom fully set up and ready to use on the same day they moved in.

It’s a service that grew from one of our earliest bookings and now feels like one of the most natural parts of Home Flatpack. Because sometimes the hardest part of moving home isn’t getting everything through the front door; it’s finding the time and energy to put it all back together afterwards.

Would you like our help with a future build?
