Environmental Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Home Flatpack recognises that the way we operate has an environmental impact.

As our business grows, we aim to make practical and responsible choices that reduce unnecessary travel, waste and resource use while continuing to provide a safe and reliable installation service.

Reducing unnecessary travel

Travel is one of the most significant environmental impacts associated with providing installation services across the UK.

Where practical, we aim to allocate work to suitably competent installers located close to the customer, helping to reduce unnecessary journey distances.

Installers are encouraged to use sensible and efficient routes when travelling between bookings.

Public transport

Where the nature and location of an installation allows, we support installers using public transport rather than travelling by car or van.

This is particularly practical for some furniture installations in towns and cities where the required tools and equipment can be transported safely without a vehicle.

The safety of the installer and their ability to carry the correct tools and equipment will always remain important when deciding how a booking should be reached.

Smarter scheduling

Good planning can help reduce unnecessary mileage.

Where possible, our planning processes aim to consider installer location, journey distance and the geographical grouping of bookings when allocating work.

This can reduce unnecessary journeys while also helping us operate a more efficient installer network.

Reducing paper and administration

Home Flatpack aims to operate primarily through digital documentation and communication.

Quotations, works orders, installation evidence, quality checks and completion records can be managed digitally, reducing the need for unnecessary printing and paper records.

Packaging and waste

Furniture and garden products can generate significant amounts of cardboard, plastic and other packaging.

Where packaging forms part of our agreed service, we encourage responsible handling, separation and recycling wherever reasonably possible.

We also encourage customers to follow local recycling guidance when disposing of packaging retained at their property.

Getting installations right first time

Quality and sustainability often go hand in hand.

Our Quality Management System is designed to support installations being completed correctly, with appropriate checks and evidence.

Reducing avoidable return visits, remedial journeys and wasted materials benefits our customers, installers and the environment.

Working with our partners

We recognise that improving environmental performance is a shared responsibility.

As Home Flatpack develops, we will look for opportunities to work with installers, retailers and other partners to identify practical ways of reducing waste and unnecessary environmental impact.

Continuous improvement

We do not claim that our operations have no environmental impact.

Instead, our approach is to identify realistic improvements, make better choices where we can and review our processes as the business grows.

Our approach

Travel smarter. Reduce unnecessary waste. Use resources responsibly. Keep looking for better ways to work.
